Vee Rovers News – Last Weekend Feb 2013

The under 9s had a very useful and interesting friendly against Burncourt Celtic on Saturday. There was plenty of young talent on show on both sides.

St. Kevin’s  3 – Vee Rovers  4

The under 13s had a top of the table clash with St Kevin’s away at Newhill Park. Early goals from Rian Hennessey, Shane Crosse and Cian Murphy saw Rovers pulled a goal back but another excellent strike from Shane Crosse stretched our lead. The home side scored two goals near the end which had Rovers hanging on for a precious 4-3 away victory.

Cashel Town B  3 – Vee Rovers  2

The Juniors were away to Cashel Town B and fell behind to a goal on 11minutes. Martin Grant had the Vee on level terms after 36minutes with a good header, however the team conceded again on 43minutes when the defence was caught napping. Rovers fell further behind, this time to a controversial goal on 64minutes. A goal by Sean Flynn on 81 minutes was not enough for to gain anything from this fixture. With only three games left Sunday’s home tie to Burncourt Celtic increases in significance as they are breathing down Vee Rovers’ necks in the league table – see below.

The Gathering 2013

The Club is taking part in the Gathering 2013. It is intended to honour the Moulson brothers, who were both from Clogheen, in recognition of their gaining senior international caps for Ireland. To this end a public meeting in conjunction with the Community Council will be held at St Pauls Community Centre on Friday March 1st at 7.45pm. Anyone with ideas or suggestions about this or any other gathering event are most welcome.
